spring is coming… i can feel it in my bones and taste it on my lips when i wake up in the morning. it is coming, and it’s making me restless. i’m full of electric energy, my soul bouncing around my skin like a rubber ball, desperate to go outside and take pictures and play in the grass and the fountains and go window shopping. in spring, i can throw on a light cotton dress and flip flops and look pretty without any effort, as long as my soul shines. i want to feel the warm sun on my back, and the happy squeals of my children as their sneakers thump-thump along as they run around the yard.
but this morning, i stepped outside my front door and slipped in a patch of ice left over from roof snow-melt. my “good” winter clothes consist of several layers of t-shirts, loose cotton long sleeved shirts, an over sized hoodie and yesterday’s jeans. my sneakers alternately crunched and squished in the yard as i stepped in leftover patches of crusty snow, and soggy brown grass. my nose turned pink and started running as the icy wind hit my face, and my fingers ached and cracked as i gripped my steering wheel as i took my son to school.
it’s not spring yet…
but it IS coming.
Look! It's Spring, fighting it's way to the surface right outside my window! It's the first new green I've seen in months...
