Sorry, Twilight Fans

  • Posted on March 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm

to prove that i do in fact do things that don’t involve my kids, i am going to do something i said i wouldn’t. blog about something completely un-kid related. aren’t you curious about what i do other than take care of small children? well, don’t be. it is unbelieveably boring.

i read.
a lot.
i love my kids more than i love to breathe. i love to breathe just a little more than i love books, and that’s only because i couldn’t read books unless i’m breathing.
get it?
so of course, when the Twilight phenomenon hit the US, i had to get a piece of it. that’s pre-movie Twilight, of course. i haven’t seen the movie. i read the books, and liked ‘em. i thought they were a nice, easy read. something to set my eyes and conciousness on when i wasn’t in the mood for reality. the first time i read them.
because honestly, i can’t read a book just once. my favorite series has been read so much that it no longer has a cover. the pages used to be wrinkled because i dropped it in the bath tub once… but they aren’t wrinkled anymore because i’ve read it so much since then that the wrinkles have fallen out.
back to Twilight.
i re-read the series almost as soon as i finished reading it the first time, and i still liked it. i admit, i skipped over a few parts because honestly, why should i read that part, when the next part is so much more interesting???
i just made my third attempt at re-reading the Twilight series, because i thought it would be nice to freshen up my brain when the movie comes out on dvd. because, you know, i’ll be able to pick it apart easier when the details are fresher.
but i couldn’t do it. Bella sounded like exactly what she is- a goofy, love sick teenager. she was pathetic, and silly and so young. Edward’s disastrous attempts at self control were laughable in their ridiculousness, and c’mon- vampires hundreds of years old in highschool??? ah no. not to mention… at one point in the story Jasper (or is it the other guy? i think it’s the other guy.) loses his shit when Bella gets a cut and bleeds. what does he do in school with a couple hundred girls, all of which are going to be on their periods at any given time? and i’ll be honest, it kinda pisses me off the way the author turns Jacob into an uber whiney obsessed wacko. i liked him best, and she made him look bad. boo on that.
i just couldn’t read it, and it made me sad. my brain kept coming up with reasons that this-couldn’t-be-like-that and just wouldn’t leave me in peace to read a nice, light story. ugh.
so- i am sorry Twilight fans, but i am starting to think that the whole story is just plain stupid.

Nothing Unusual

yuck. that’s how i feel today. that’s why i haven’t been blogging much. well, less than usual, at least. my head feels like it’s filled with helium, and my ears stuffed with cotton. my nose faucet has been switched on, and my tired-o-meter is stuck in “high”. i am starving all the time. i really hate that. i get that it’s my body’s way of trying to get me better, but seriously? i’m sick of being sick and hungry. anyways.

E has gotten a million times better since the start of her antibiotics- she still has a nasty cough, and a little bit of a runny nose, but at least she’s smiling again.
she even almost has a tooth about to break through. i gave her a biter biscuit today, which she sucked to a gooey mess, and a few little cereal thingys that are supposed to dissolve in their mouth, making it easier for the just-starting-solids baby to eat. she gagged on it as soon as it hit her tongue. i scooped it out, and will try again tomorrow.
K is doing fine in school, but still has the occasional coughing spell.
i hate the crud.
nothing interesting or cute to report.
sorry for the lame boringness.
